God is good all the time! When I (Kim) get up in the morning after I get dressed and all of that one of the first things I do is turn on the computer and check email. Today being like any other day, that is what I did. The difference today was that there was great news waiting in our inbox. Jeremy was still at home and I yelled "come quick". Now thinking blood or death may be involved he came quick. It has been rare in this process for both of us to hear good news at the same time. (most news comes while he is working) I had noticed that we got an email from our original social worker (who we miss terribly) and her opening line was "Good News!!!" We quickly opened the attachments together to discover to our delight that we have been awarded a grant for $2, 500 from Caring Connections (which is part of Bethany). This is truly an answer to prayer!
So where are we at in this journey. We had our garage sale this weekend which was a success even in the rain. We raised about $550 between the garage sale and selling stuff on Cra*g's list. We also received 2 additional monetary donations from wonderful families. Thank you again to all who donated items to make the garage sale a success. A special thanks to Amanda and
Mom mom who provided baked goods to sell- which were a huge hit. Also, thanks to Laura who arrived early and helped with the set up and placement of items which helped to make the sale a success. Because of the amount of stuff we have left we are planning on doing the sale again this coming Saturday. Please pray for sunshine!
If you remember, we had applied for 6 grants total. We did hear from one a few weeks ago and they could not help us at this time. So far we have received 2 grants. Yea God! We are still waiting to hear official word from the 3 other grants. All 3 have requested more information from us. One of them does not seem too promising as it appears the economy is affecting them. Please continue to pray for the financial aspect of this adoption. We are doing our part and trusting God to meet the need so that money will not be an obstacle in bringing Jonathan home.
We are hoping to hear this week when our log in date was. On Friday, we will be participating in an all day seminar that is part of our required training. We are both looking forward to this as we will get to hear from experts in the fields of attachment, adoption and different medical specialities. I am sure it is going to be an eye opening day for us. We are still praying that we might get some sort of update on Jonathan soon. I'm thinking that would be a wonderful Mother's day or Birthday gift for me!
We will continue to keep you posted! One of the main reasons we started this blog was so that we could give it to Jonathan one day. I want him to see how many people loved him, loved our family, and were involved in helping to get him home, where he belongs!
